What is Large Envelope |
LargeEnvelope gives college-applicants a way to learn first-hand what college admission officers are looking for by providing a one-on-one mentor relationship with a recently accepted student at the college of their choice. Mentors help applicants develop their application essay and short answers in their own voice while providing first hand advice on the application process, what admission officers are looking for, and how to write an essay that will help them be admitted. LargeEnvelope helps applicants get in to the school of their choice.
LargeEnvelope mentors are enrolled at the top 50 National Universities and top 30 Liberal Arts Colleges as determined by US News and World Reports annual college ranking. The usefulness and quality of an individual college mentor’s advice is continually updated and determined by user ratings.
How to Participate
First: Choose a university or college.
(It’s OK to use mentors from any school listed. For instance, a student might use a highly rated Harvard mentor for an essay being sent in with an application to UCLA.)
Second: Select your mentor or mentors.
(You may engage as many mentors as you want.)
Third: Post your essay to the "essay & feedback" screen. Post your short answers to the "short answers & feedback" screen.
Fourth: Purchase your mentor(s).
(LargeEnvelope charges a fixed rate of $39.95 for a mentor review of your essay and short answers. The length of your mentor interaction, essay revisions, and advice is determined by the individual mentor. An equitable effort is generally the outcome as all mentors want favorable reviews from their customers.)
